Do People Change!

Someone told me very vehemently few days back.. People don't change Nupur...and I was confused. Why confused because I believe in change. so what exactly stops people from believing in change.
I guess what my friend wanted to imply was that their basic nature remains the same. I agree, may be or not.

Well having come this far, I see myself in different light. I see people relationships changing, priorities changing, environment changing, circumstances changing. It would be difficult for someone to envisage that a person would remain the same, with so much change. There is bound to be change. Good or bad is all a perception of the one who sees it.

But people will change. It is very similar to a rock on the banks of a river. As time goes by, it may weather down, smoothen, sharpen, or even erode completely. We are no different. No matter how much we want to be fixed to an image of ourselves, we will erode, we will weather down, we will smoothen or for that matter sharpen and given the kind of rocks we are we might just outshine others.

People  learn with time, change with time, grow with time or wither with time. But for sure do not remain the same.

There is another aspect to change as I see it, the concept of acceptability. Today one of my neighbour, in her atypical style sat an reminisced about the times when things were simpler; one caesarean in 100 normal delivery and One love marriage in 100 arranged marriage. Now it is the other way round and the it is acceptable. As I sat there nodding; because that is what I do when she goes into her time versus now time, I thought to myself, 15 years back her acceptability of love marriage would be questionable but today she herself is a champion of it asking her grand daughter to find a suitatble match for herself.

The parameters of looking at change also change.  So Bottom line. . Change is here to stay.. no denying..

Performance Management- the performance, the performer and the audience/ spectator. When we visualize a performance we see an act in action. The act is different from actor and that is what  performance management is all about. In our day to day usage from an absolute management perspective we often confuse between the act and the actor and more often that not, we work towards refining the act and some where in the process loose the actor.
