Take Charge!!

We are all victim of circumstances, or at least its easier to fall in that trap. Why bother confronting. Blame it on situation, or people or well I can give you tons and tons of other reason and things to blame it on. Infact, my favorite is blame it on self. Go deep into the wallows of self pity. Realize how useless you are. And how easier it is not to make things work for you 'I always do that'. or 'Why does it happen to me'. 


And then we get on with our lives. with the same situation, looking for a silver lining, hoping that one day all will be fine. Because that is  what life says, Never Give Up. So we don't. We go on fighting battles one after another. We want to be warriors. So what, is that not an admirable trait? I remember writing about it. I called it resilience. 


 There is only one problem with this entire situation. Have you ever imagined appearing for your XII exams with preparation of V standard. Ok may be that's too far fetched. But have you ever envisaged managing a crisis in office on the first day of your job. You might be able to do it but what you will also think is, I wish I had a proper induction. I wish, I was better prepared. 

I believe there are two ways of preparation. One where you wait for external assistance to inform you on what is coming your way or other where you just get up and start making the changes you want in life. So I will give you an example to explain this. You have been living with your parents and you venture out on your own. You are not particularly a cleanliness freak. So you do not mind a certain disorganized. So you do not clean up after yourself one day, and the following and the following till you reach to a point where it starts to irk you. You have two option, to go for external help or gear up and do it on your own. Either ways it will be done and you will manage it. 
Same is the course of life. You get external help to salvage the situation or gear up internally and take stock of life to change it. Either ways, thy will be done the minute you take charge of situation.

The journey of taking charge is not easy. Its full of challenges, self doubt and but like Tommy Lee Jones says in MIB, its worth it.

Think out of the box...

This one line has the potency to make people feel as if their mental faculties are constrained, chained or possibly prehistoric in its ability to comprehend, conceive and infer. I want to out-rightly and unabashedly admit that I have been through these feelings on occasions. Performance Management- the performance, the performer and the audience/ spectator. When we visualize a performance we see an act in action. The act is different from actor and that is what  performance management is all about. In our day to day usage from an absolute management perspective we often confuse between the act and the actor and more often that not, we work towards refining the act and some where in the process loose the actor. Recently while explaining what performance management is all about to a group of organization heads, I was supposed to provide them with possible solutions to the performance problems in the organization.
