Too eager to share!!!
I am a trainer and I love to train.. I am a supervisor and I love to supervise... I am a counselor and I love to counsel...... I am a teacher and I love to teach....... I am a mentor and I love to guide...
I am experienced.. I love to share....
We often come across situations where we realise that we insist on sharing our knowledge. 'Gyan' as I call it. Our years of experience give us an edge over others or that is what we would like to believe, especially in a position where we manage people. I have been lucky. Whenever I am in a talking mood, there is someone who is in listening mood or so I presume. But more often than not, that might not always be the case.
Just yesterday I was sitting with someone to share some of my experiences in order to help him deal with a situation. By virtue of being head of HR and his senior, he had no option but to listen to me as I advised him on how he needs to handle the situation, how he need to be the bigger person, etc. However the end of conversation he told me,"Today I learnt a lot, though I had been practicing 50% of it but I definitely learnt 50% from you. Pretty diplomatic, I would say but the truth.
How many times, while sitting with a senior does an employee think; I know better and sometimes with a little tweak here and there, s/he is right. S/He does know better. Therefore the best cap for a leadership is to wear their listening hat.. When you share be very aware. Be aware of current situations; the circumstances; the real problem and most importantly the receptivity.
Someone recently asked me who is the most difficult person to train and my answer was the one who doesn't want to be trained.
Be a traffic light when it comes to sharing experience, stop, watch and then go.....

True Nupur. Easier said than done! The natural reaction is to correct. Let us start from our homes where we correct our children & spouses in that order, on the road (chalana nahin aata kya :-D ), at work...in fact in every sphere of life where we get an opportunity.
